Scrigno – leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of exclusive counter frames for pocket sliding doors and security doors – inspires the sculpture of Fabrizio Prevedello, Luogo.
An invitation, that of the artist, to embark on a journey with purposefully undefined contours, in search of his deepest and most precious essence. An integral part of the artistic project becomes the location itself: a purpose-designed space in which the artist talks with the company, conceived for Art&Design, the concept that Andrea Castrignano dedicates to the city of Milan for the Milan Design City 2020. The central theme of the event is the meeting of two apparently different creative universes that merge together, with unexpected and extraordinary outcomes. In the exhibition area of Studio Castrignano, located in Via Adige 11, twelve artists take on the role of spokesperson for as many Brands and allow themselves to be enriched by the values hidden behind each individual brand.
A physical location but above all a psychological one: This is how Fabrizio Prevedello explains the art dedicated to Scrigno. “What is essential is invisible to the eye”, as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said, and it is revealed only to the curious gaze of those who push beyond the ordinary. The sculpture is placed within a private area, and it is capable of suspending, at least for a moment, the chaos and frenzy of the surrounding world. This setting can be accessed from three sides by means of solutions by Scrigno which, being in continuity with the wall, are revealed only to careful eyes owing to their discretion. The exhibition format, conceived with Andrea Castrignano, helps to recreate a feeling of intimacy and meditation, enhancing the philosophy pursued by Scrigno, which for more than thirty years has dedicated its efforts to creating systems that constitute the point of access to a private world, namely the home, where you can feel at home and fully express yourself.
In representing the brand, Fabrizio Prevedello favours marble, the absolute protagonist of the installation and the genuine leitmotiv amid his artistic flair and the distinguishing features of Scrigno. Indeed, the material quarried from the mountains is itself unveiling something precious, reserved for those who are really looking for it. The marble slabs, whose thickness in some cases is reduced to 3 mm, bring to mind a sense of elegant lightness, in the same way that the Scrigno doors help to shape extraordinary environments. The marble slivers, like eternal leaves suspended from a tree, represented by the iron structure supporting the sculpture, are interspersed with a thin cylindrical cut. The latter, the artist explains, is symbolically the front door of an introspective journey, which has not yet been completed.
Access to this private universe created by the artist is possible through Essential flush swing doors: the absence of edging trims ensures the fusion of the solution with the surrounding environment, thanks to the painted panels, which become the expression of total continuity with the wall. The door, therefore, almost disappears completely, only to be found by the watchful eye of the observer, who only by walking through it, will have the opportunity to discover the sculpture in all its many facets.
“Essential flush swing door becomes the “chest” of the work of Fabrizio Prevedello, created on the occasion of the Art&Design event by Andrea Castrignano” comments Francesco Bigoni, CMO of the Scrigno Group. “The encounter between the brand and the artist becomes an opportunity for experimentation and cross-contamination of different languages, the synergy of which gives rise to a sculpture that, through shapes and colours, is the key to interpreting the vision that has inspired our work for over 30 years.”
