For the renovation of an elegant apartment located in an early 20th century block in Rome, the Blu Space architectural practice chose Scrigno’s Essential solution with a customised raw door panel. This choice allowed the architects to make the most of the living spaces, combining tradition and modernity in the creation of a functional, elegant environment which perfectly meets the needs of its new owners.

Enhancing Old Spaces with New Solutions

The apartment initially presented with a somewhat “stuck” layout, with separate rooms, poorly illuminated areas and a spatial arrangement which did not meet the needs of the new owners. The Blu Space practice undertook a renovation project with the goal of preserving the period appeal of the residence, minimising structural work, but recalibrating and enhancing the spaces.

Harmony and Light to the Living Area

At the heart of this renovation, Scrigno’s solutions played a fundamental role. The living area was transformed into a large, brightly lit living space, which communicates harmoniously with the dining and entrance area. This choice not only improved the visual continuity between the spaces, but also allowed the designers to make the most of the natural light.

Scrigno Essential at the Heart of the Renovation Project

A curved dividing partition was built at the centre of the living area, becoming the hub for the entire space; it houses a hat and coat closet on one side, and hides the services on the other. An Essential pocket door system was installed in the renovated apartment, with a raw sliding door fully customised by the practice with the application of a coloured enamel finish.

The Scrigno Essential solution was chosen by Blu Space due to the perceived quality of the product and its ability to integrate modern design and functionality without compromising the historical look of the residence.
